Scripture Tells us What to Pray
A Adoration
"Through him, then, let's offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually..." (Hebrews 13:15).
C Confession
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
T Thanksgiving
"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
S Supplication
"... praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18).
Please notice that we are to pray "continually, "in everything" and "at all times".
Some scriptural supplications are:
- Love: "This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more" (Philippians 1:9).
- Knowledge of God's Will: "... praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will" (Colossians 1:9).
- Obedience: "Now I pray to God that you do no evil" (2 Corinthians 13:7).
- Increase our Faith: "The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith'" (Luke 17:5). Jesus said to Peter, "I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn't fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers" (Luke 22:32). Click here and scroll down to 4.3a for more on these verses from Luke.
