THROUGH PRAYER

Bless My Enemy: Commentary on Luke 6:27-28

This is the forth prayer in the prayer acrostic, P.O.W.E.R.

The left navigation arrow (<) and right navigation arrow (>) above will take you through all of the prayers in POWER.

E:   Bless my Enemy

  • "But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you" (Luke 6:27-28).

Prayerful Observations:

We pray different prayers for people depending on whether they are believers or unbelievers. We pray that unbelievers will be saved as in 1 Timothy 2:1-4. And we pray for believers that they will have improved character (greater faith, love and etc.) There is no point in praying for improved character in an unbeliever. Improved character is only possible after the unbeliever becomes a believer. Everything an unbeliever does is sin, for Romans 14:23 says:

"whatever is not of faith is sin"

The unbeliever does not have faith, so everything the unbeliever does is in unbelief and "whatever is not of faith is sin".

So, we pray that the unbelievers will become believers and we pray for improved character in believers (greater faith, love, ect.) And in this fourth prayer of the prayer acrostic POWER, we pray for enemies and also for "those who mistreat you".
