How to Walk by the Spirit: What does Galatians 5:25 Mean?

Day 10

"If we live by the Spirit, let's also walk by the Spirit."

Galatians 5:25

My Prayer

Yahweh, my Heavenly Father, thank You for this scripture.Y I praise You for the power that is in it. I thank You for what You will do through it (Isaiah 55:11). Please reveal its meaning to our minds (Psalm 119:18). For all who read here, please lead them to pray this page with me...

Lord of Heaven and Earth, I praise You... that You have given us the power to walk intimately with You in this life... in this age!

In addition to saying "walk by the Spirit", Your apostle said "walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh" (Galatians 5:16).

So, if I walk by the Spirit, I will not sin. Praise to Your name!

My Father, for many decades I wondered what You meant when You instructed us to "walk by the Spirit". Some have told me that it means to obey Your word. In other words, to read scripture and do what it says. But Galatians 5:25 doesn't say "walk by My written words". It doesn't say "obey my rules". It says "walk by the Spirit".

Walking by the Spirit has something to do with... a Spirit

I praise You... for You have invited us into intimacy with You!

Following a written rule is not the same thing as following Your Spirit. You deserve all praise! You are perfect and Holy. But, You are not distant from us. You do not give us rules follow and then depart from us. You will allow us to walk with You... to "walk by the Spirit".

You did not use the phrase "walk by the Spirit" in the Old Testament. You only use the phrase in the New Testament... and only in the Post-Pentecost books... the books written during the amazing age of the indwelling Holy Spirit, the age in which I live.i

I give You all praise! As You led me to meditate on the prayers prayed by Christ and the Apostles, You revealed to me that we walk by the Spirit as we pray scriptural prayers.

We hear Your Spirit by prayer.

And we obey Your Spirit by prayer.

So, You deserve all the glory!

One of the Endorsed Prayers is the Prayer for Knowledge of Your Will from the scriptures (Colossians 1:9-12).4.2c If we pray this prayer by faith and without doubt, You then reveal Your will to us.4.2a Knowing Your will, we ask You to grant us obedience to follow Your will. This is the Endorsed Prayer of Obedience, from the scriptures (2 Corinthians 13:7).4.3f Having asked You to grant obedience, then by Your power we follow You... walk with You... participate in what You are doing... in the now!

As we hear and obey by prayer, we "walk by the Spirit".

My Lord, it is so very simple to one who knows the prayers which Christ and the apostles prayed or instructed us to pray. I have called these prayers the Endorsed Prayers. But many do not know these prayers. I pray oh Lord, lead all who read here to live by scriptural prayer... the Endorsed Prayers.4.1 As they pray the Endorsed Prayers... they will "walk by the Spirit".

I praise You Father. You have told us to "walk by the Spirit". And You provide the power in Your presence to walk that walk! Through scriptural prayer, those who believe and do not doubt... can "walk by the Spirit"! But, those who doubt, can't.4.7

Heavenly Father, teach us the prayers that scripture has taught us to pray. By Your Spirit, lead Your children to click this link: "Walk by the Spirit"

You deserve all praise!

Amen.
