Scripture tells us what to pray.
The acronym FOLLOW CHRIST contains twelve prayers from scripture... so that we may know what to talk about when we talk to God.
This acronym is simple enough to be memorized easily but detailed enough to tell us exactly what to pray in nearly any situation.
Two of these prayers are from Old Testament prophets. The other ten are prayers which Christ or the apostles prayed or instructed us to pray... by which we walk by the Spirit with joy and without fear. Since we have been commanded to imitate the apostles as they imitate Christ, these prayers are not optional (1 Corinthians 11:1). Five are disciple making prayers by which we spread God's word, as God instructed (Matthew 28:19-20).

F: Increase our Faith!
1)"The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith" (Luke 17:5).
2) "The Lord said, "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan asked to have all of you, that he might sift you as wheat, 32 but I prayed for you, that your faith wouldn't fail. You, when once you have turned again, establish your brothers" (Luke 22:31-32).
3) "Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart" (2 Timothy 2:22).
4) "night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith" (1 Thessalonians 3:10).
5) "We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly" (2 Thessalonians 1:3).6) "For I say through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith" (Romans 12:3).

O: Open a door for the word!
"Continue steadfastly in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving, 3 praying together for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds, 4 that I may reveal it as I ought to speak" (Colossians 4:2-4).

L: Lead me to the Rock!
"1 Hear my cry, God. Listen to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth, I will call to you when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For you have been a refuge for me, a strong tower from the enemy. 4 I will dwell in your tent forever. I will take refuge in the shelter of your wings" (Psalm 61:1-4).

"This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God" (Philippians 1:9-11).

Jesus prayed for the disciples, "20 Not for these only do I pray, but for those also who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me" (John 17:20-21).

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints: on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News" (Ephesians 6:17-19).
