Incomplete: Omission of the Seven Thunders

The sixth trumpet includes the seven thunders. The seven thunders were not written for us. They have been concealed (10:4). What does this mean?

So we have been given seven seals, seven trumpets and seven bowls. But we are missing the seven trumpets. We have 21 of 28 parts. Or, you might say we have three out of four parts. How much can we understand with three out of four parts?

You can only identify what appears to be the major themes.

We are missing parts of its content, which may be large or small. The seven thunders may may present prophecies that are both mindboggling and shocking. Or, they may merely fill in the gaps

Many scriptures in the book of Revelation could mean a or b. But the book doesn't fill in the gaps, so I can see whether a or b is the correct interpretation.

Structured

Beneficial

At the beginning and end of the book is the promise that God will bless those who heed the prophecies in it (1:3, 22:7).

  • "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written in it, for the time is at hand' (Revelation 1:3).
  • "Behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book' (Revelation 22:7).

"Keep" means to tend to, obey. The rigid structure enhances understanding that is fully capable of bringing blessing to those who keep. This blessing is available even though the seven thunders have been sealed away from us. So, we have here one key to the book of Revelation. It is a book to be obeyed. As we prayerfully read the book, we must hear and obey.

Keep

Blessings come to those who "keep" the words of the book. Keep in the above two passages comes from the Greek word teereo. Below you will see all ten instances or the word teereo in the book of Revelation. Prayerfully consider them. See if the word "keep" means obedience:

  • "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and keep the things that are written in it, for the time is at hand' (Revelation 1:3).
  • "The one who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds to the end, to him I will give authority over the nations" (Revelation 2:26).
  • "Remember therefore how you have received and heard. keep it and repent" (Revelation 3:3).
  • "I know your works (behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut), that you have a little power, and kept my word, and didn't deny my name" (Revelation 3:8).
  • "Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing which is to come on the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth" (Revelation 3:10).
  • "The dragon grew angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep God's commandments and hold Jesus' testimony" (Revelation 12:17).
  • "Here is the perseverance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus" (Revelation 14:12).
  • "Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn't walk naked, and they see his shame" (Revelation 16:15).
  • "Behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book' (Revelation 22:7).

Those are all of the verses in the book of Revelation which use the Greek word teereo (keep). In 16:15, one who keeps his clothes means to keep obedience. Now, lets prayerfully focus on the portion of text pertinent to the word "keep".

keep the things that are written in it (1:3)

keeps My deeds to the end (2:26)
keep it and repent" ( 3:3)
kept my word, and didn't deny my name" (3:8).

kept my command to endure (3:10).
keep God's commandments and hold Jesus' testimony (12:17)
keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus" (14:12)
keeps his clothes, so that he doesn't walk naked (16:15)
keeps the words of the prophecy (22:7).

We are to keep the words, deeds, faith, obedience and testimony of Jesus.

"Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don't expect, the Son of Man will come."

Matthew 24:44
