The Endorsed Prayer of Harvest: Lord, Send Workers into Your Harvest (Mt 9:38)

Day 10

"Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest"

Matthew 9:38

Prayer

Heavenly Father, empower us through Your Holy Spirit to hear and do Your word.

In Matthew 9:38, Your Son instructed the disciples to pray for laborers to be sent into Your harvest. I know that Jesus wasn't talking about harvesting wheat or rice. He was talking about harvesting souls,  making disciples. Then, in the next verse after 9:38, Jesus summoned the twelve disciples and sent them... He sent them to make disciples.

Jesus told them to ask You to send workers before He sent them. We don't send ourselves. You choose which of us to send. You also decide when to send us. As we pray the above Endorsed Prayer, we are acknowledging that You initiate this process. We are acknowledging Your authority. The other Endorsed Prayers for making disciples also acknowledge that You perform each of the remaining steps in the disciple making process... the prayers for opening a door for the word, prayers requesting that You put Your Gospel words into our minds... then by faith, we speak the words You give us.4.4b

In Luke 6:12-13, Jesus spent the entire night in prayer before He chose the twelve apostles. You guided Him in whom to choose and how to train them. He only said what You told Him (John 12:49).

Your Son, Jesus, spent three years training the disciples to make disciples. In John 15:16, He said to the disciples, "You didn't choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you".

So, those whom were chosen did not choose to be disciple makers. Jesus made that choice. It is the same with us my Lord. And You have decided that all of Your  children are to make disciples.D

When I see a particular person who has spiritual need, I ask You to send someone to that person. You may send me. You may send someone else. Praise to Your name! You deserve all the praise!

At Your command, Jesus commanded the disciples to pray the prayer of the harvest in Matthew 9:38. Then in Matthew 28:19, Jesus told the disciples to teach all nations to follow all of His commands, one of which was Matthew 9:38, the command to pray the prayer of the harvest. So, all of Your children should pray the Endorsed Prayer of the Harvest.

Lord, send workers to train Your children to make disciples. Teach them to make disciples like the apostles did. Jesus said that it is easy and it is.2.3 We repeat the words of the Father and pray, just like Jesus did. Teach them to pray the Endorsed Prayers for Making Disciples.4.4 As I watch in prayer while praying disciple making prayers... I am walking by the Spirit. It is something we do together.

I love You Father! You deserve all praise!

Amen.
