What does Romans 8:28 mean? God works all things together for good

Day 28

'We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose"

Romans 8:28

My Prayer

Yahweh, my Heavenly Father, thank You for this scripture.Y I praise You for the power that is in it and thank You for what You will do through it (Isaiah 55:11). Please reveal its meaning to our minds (Psalm 119:18)...

Heavenly Father, I love You and am called according to Your purpose. So, I know that for me, You "work all things together for good".

Father, You know that there is suffering in my life. In fact, You have granted to me "on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him,A7 but also to suffer on his behalf" (Philippians 1:29).

So, I have asked You to reveal to me this:

How do you work in my suffering so that suffering is good for me?

I don't naturally like suffering. So, I would really like to know.

As I am praying, You are bringing scripture to my mind to answer my question:

Satan brings suffering into my life.5.2 You bring suffering into my life.5.2

If I am sick or have financial hardship because of persecution by Satan, it reminds me that I am mortal. It reminds me of my helplessness and my dependence on You. So this suffering is good for me as it reminds me of truth. Satan can do nothing to me without Your consent (Job 1:6-12). He brings his persecutions against me to incite me to anger against You (Job 1:11, 2:4-6). But sickness and financial difficulty bring me into Your presence so I may hear You, and walk by the Spirit. So this suffering is good for me as I have peace in Your presence which I did not have before I was sick. I praise you audibly in my struggle so that the fallen angels in the heavenly realm can hear me. Then they will know that when they persecute me, I will praise You instead of curse you (Job 1:11-22, 2:7-10). I want them to know that all their hard work on me results in praise to You!5.1 So, my suffering results in Your praise. That is good! My suffering is good for me because my praise discourages my enemy.

If I become sick because of sin, even if I am sick to the point of death, it is discipline from You, so that I "may not be condemned with the world" (1 Corinthians 11:32, 20-32). We believers, as subjects in Your kingdom, are disciplined in this life. But we will not be subject to the Great White Throne Judgement. Satan's followers, on the other hand, will face that judgement and then enter the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). So, my suffering in discipline is good for me because it keeps me from eternal judgement.

If I die I enter rest (Revelation 14:13). Physical death is the portal to paradise. So, physical death is good for me. If I die for my faithfulness to Christ, I receive the crown of life (Revelation 2:10). So, the giving of my life given for Christ is good for me because the crown of life is good. Maybe this crown means that I will have higher authority in the eternal state.

When I was disowned by a parent, emotional devastation brought me to the door of nothingness. Those who have been to the edge know what I mean. I was being called... to feel nothing. I could have entered in but instead I screamed "Jesus"! I collapsed to the floor and wept. You restored my soul to peace, in an instant. It was peace in grief instead of anxiety in grief. I had lost a parent but entered deeply into the power of Your love and presence in the spiritual realm. You worked this suffering as good for me. For by my loss, the reality of the persons in the spiritual realm became obvious. The one calling me had come for me... to do evil to me. But You answered my cry for help.

And, I can walk with You, I can walk by the Spirit, in the spiritual realm!

You have a plan for everything that is going to happen today!

Praise to Your name, Yahweh!

In this passage, Romans 8:28, You revealed that You work all things for good in the spiritual realm! Thank you for revealing this in Your word! For, how can we walk by the Spirit, if we don't believe that You work all things for good?

Heavenly Father, teach us more about the spiritual realm. By Your Spirit, lead Your children to click this link: "Spiritual Authority and the Spiritual Realm"

You deserve all praise!

Amen.
