Draw All Men to Yourself: Commentary on 1 Timothy 2:1-4

This is the fifth prayer in the prayer acronym, T.H.E. W.A.Y.

The left navigation arrow (<) and right navigation arrow (>) above will take you through all of the prayers in THE WAY.

A:  Draw All men to yourself!

  • "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: 2 for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

Prayerful Observations:
If it was not for the fact that all men will not be saved, we could ask God to give eternal life to all men (Matthew 26:46, Revelation 20:11-15). But we do know that Jesus draws all men to himself because Jesus said, "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself" (John 12:32). So, we can obey this scripture by asking God to draw all men to himself, to bring about salvation into eternal life, for those who believe. We can also obey this scripture by clicking here to pray the five disciple making prayers in the prayer acronym HOW SO.

We ask God to draw all men to himself, from the powerful to the powerless. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 appears to have been written during the reign of Nero, one of the most wicked rulers of all time. He tortured Christians for entertainment. So, the child of God prays for the eternal salvation of the lost, whether they be friend or enemy. The desired effect of these prayers is salvation for the lost and tranquility for the child of God. God draws souls to himself according to the Conversion Corridor (micro-subchapter 3.1h).
