Table of Contents, Outline and Commentary: Book of Revelation

Jesus said...

"Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don't expect, the Son of Man will come."

(Matthew 24:44)

I have read and heard end time teaching for half a century from various theological systems. But when I read the book of Revelation, from beginning to end, none of them seemed to arise out of... or be consistent with... the actual words written in the book. So, I cast all of those systems aside and came into the presence of God, to hear. When tempted to accept a speculation as a doctrine of God, my spirit repeatedly turned to God and said "I have no right". At those very moments, and there were many, a solution in the form of a verse from the book of Revelation came to mind which resolved the confusion regarding the words of the book. Those solutions... to resolve confusion... are presented in these subchapters on the book of Revelation.

Summary of the Book of Revelation:

The summary of the book is found in the first 8 verses:

  • Blessed is he who keeps signs of imminent events revealing King Yeshua.

"Blessed" means honored, revered, happy. "Keeps" means tend to, obey. "Signs" means figurative rather than literal language. "Imminent" means occurring quickly. Yeshua, (with accent on second syllable) is the most likely the way that Jesus pronounced His name. Matthew 24, along with Matthew 21-24 tells us that the events described in Revelation are predicted to occur to a "generation", rather than each individual living since the book was written. And Matthew 23:29-36 defines generation according to a spiritual father, rather than a physical father. All people, from Adam to the present are either of the generation of God... or the generation of Satan. Click here for an in depth study of this doctrine.

But what I am saying is this: The events prophesied in the book of Revelation were prophesied to come quickly to the generation of God.  So, the book could be re-summarized as follows:

  • Blessed are the individuals who keep the signs of imminent events occurring to the generation of God, events which reveal King Yeshua.

Remember:  Within the context of Matthew 21:23 - 25:46,  Matthew 24:34 has expressly told us that the end time prophesies applied to a generation, and expressly told us how to define a generation. This summary is not of my personal choosing. This is how scripture has summarized the book. We will keep both the short form and longer form of the summary in mind continually as we progress through the book of Revelation.

Table of Contents

Click a topic below to read. There are nine chapters (A-I). Chapter E has seven subchapters. 100% of the text of the book of Revelation is covered in the links in A-G below. I have limited the detail in the structure of A-G to keep God's very obvious structure in the mind of the reader, since the structure of the book is rigid and is key to the meaning of the book. Chapter H contains various essential lessons on the book. Participants and Equivalents in Chapter H reveals mystic equivalents as many participants are called by different names through the book.

t    Seven Thunders have been sealed, hidden from us by God. They were revealed to John in the 6th trumpet, but since their contents have been concealed from us, we don't know if they provide information about the times of the other trumpets, or the various seals and bowls, hence the question marks in those times.

~ 3 Signs are revealed in 12:1, 12:3 and 15:1, the first two signs being presented within the seventh trumpet, though all their events obviously do not occur in the days of the seventh trumpet. The first sign is the birth of Christ. The second sign is of Satan's attacks on God's people, the spreading of the Gospel, the rapture and Armageddon. The third sign is the seven bowl judgements. The chronology of the 3 signs in reference to the seals, trumpets and bowls is explained in the subchapter titled, "Chronology and Organizational Structure in the Book of Revelation".

7 in the 3rd of the 7th of 7 Seals

Seven seals are opened (revealed). The seventh seal reveals seven trumpets. The seventh trumpet reveals three signs, the third of which reveals 7 bowls. So, 7 in the  3rd of the seventh of 7. The first five seals meet the criteria of Revelation 1:1-3 "things which must happen soon... for the time is at hand". The days of the seven bowls do not occur after the days of the seven trumpet. They occur concurrently,  as pairs.  Trumpet Bowl Pairs (TB Pairs) reveal seven objects of wrath, executed by seven pairs of angels.

It is my prayer that, with a general framework at your fingertips, you may be able to pray through each verse in worshipful intimacy with your Lord, without getting lost in the details. As you click on the links above, you will see how content of the lessons below play out in the text of Revelation. I hope that advance knowledge of the participants and equivalents below will keep you from experiencing the decades of confusion which I experienced.
